stars in the alley

One of the wonderful things of having free time during the day is that I can catch special events in the city like Stars in the Alley, where Broadway performers do a concert in Shubert Alley once a year. Every year I have been busy at full-time summer jobs but not this year! :) One of the many highlights of the show is the 4 Jersey girls, imitating the 4 Jersey Boys, in performing "Walk Like a Man". The falsetto is done perfectly!

Lea Salonga also did her star solo in "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables. Company also performed their pitch perfect "Getting Married Today".

The crowd gathered quickly...I took this photo of the people behind me.

The wonderful Martha Plimpton & Jennifer Ehle from "Coast of Utopia"

(To me, Jennifer Ehle will forever be the quintessential "Elizabeth Bennett", the character she played in the BBC/A&E version of Pride and Prejudice...Kiera Knightley? Oh please).

A total stalker photo of the wonderful Jefferson Mays. His character Mason in Journey's End is fascinating....

I just found this wonderful interview online, he also graduated from UC San Diego, like me! I love this article about Mays:

" Yes, he [Mays] has a girlfriend. He said that people have assumed that he’s gay all his life. He grew up in Clinton, Connecticut, the youngest of three children born to a retired naval officer and a children‘s librarian. He acknowledged that "it was painful in high school, being called ‘faggot’ because you like to wear ascots and speak in complete sentences.""

Ahahaha...complete sentences...that totally cracked me up.
